Jaffna Tour

Just prior to the Presidential elections in November 2005, we were able to visit Jaffna for the first time in our history. As four dynamic undergraduates from the Business School of Informatics Institute of Technology left to Jaffna in last week of September 2005, in a bus that left from wellawatha. we left Colombo at 10pm and arrived in jaffna at 12.30 pm on the following day after 15 long journey along the A9 road.
We were able to visit almost the entire Jaffna Peninsula as we covered Nagadeepa, KKS, Palalai,Jaffa University, Point Pedro, Nallur etc.
It was a historic visit for our members.
May we be able to go again and May not War come again to devastate our beautiful Island country which was the Pearl of the Indian Ocean. We were able to stay 3 night and 4 days in Jaffna and return safely back to colombo.

Excellent work and hope we will be able to go again to Jaffna under one country, without being a separate state.

Lalin Mendis,

As a good citizen of Sri Lanka, I wish many more young Sinhalese young men like you, with open heart, should visit Jaffna and mix with them and understand them. If you check the old static (Wilson’s Civics) you would find that the Jaffna peninsulas had the very least criminal activities in 1950 – 1970 among the whole island. As an ex resident of Jaffna, I want to tell you that most of the Jaffna residents are very peace loving and well-disciplined citizens. But, the Sri Lankan racialist, especially the former power hungry Sinhalese politicians, have imposed them to the current situation and now it is the responsibilities of you and other educated Sinhalese mass to get them back in to the conducive environment. You need lot of patience and intelligence to repair the damaged caused by your predecessors. But it would be worthwhile to try. I wish you all the best.
